About the recordings

Rendered by Mod Rack's own audio engine on Splice samples and Ableton Core Library loops.

Full loop · Glitch Gate

19.0 sec · Level matched

Sequenced gates and filter moves chop the whole loop into a new groove.

How this example was made

The same source through the native Mod Rack processor, using the factory rack "Glitch Gate". The source is a Splice sample. Both versions are loudness matched with a constant gain.

What you can do

Inside Mod Rack.

Any effect, any slot

Patch 23 effects across 18 slots, with duplicates, parallel paths and up to three bands through Image.

Modulation is a cable

Drag a MOD jack onto any knob to animate it with LFOs, envelopes, sequences, random sources or the XY pad.

Play the patch

Play Resonator chords, grains and Pitch harmonies with MIDI, or trigger envelopes and control Filter.

460 places to start

One-knob macros and level-matched factory racks for drums, bass, vocals, textures and transitions.

Random, with a direction

Build a new patch with Random, explore variations with Mutate, and undo any change.

Glitch, freeze and loop

Glitch, vocode, freeze, recall phrases or dissolve loops with Degrade, Fuse, Wash, Recall, Refrain and Tape Texture.

Keep the happy accidents

Save every cable and setting with your preset or DAW session, and tidy the layout with Auto organize.

Every node included

23 effects.
7 modulators.

All 30 nodes work in any of the 18 slots, including duplicates.

Effects (23)
Echo
Tape, analogue and digital delays with multiple taps, feedback and drifting repeats.
Drive
Seven distortion circuits for saturation, overdrive and heavier analogue colour.
Tremolo
Rhythmic changes in volume, from soft pulses to sharply gated patterns.
Pan
Stereo movement that follows a rhythm or responds to incoming hits.
Filter
Ten filter responses and four circuit models, with an internal LFO and envelope for moving sweeps. Optional MIDI key tracking moves the cutoff with your notes, except in Curve mode.
Phaser
Moving phase notches for hollow sweeps, swirling textures and resonant motion.
Chorus
Chorus, doubling, flanging and vibrato to thicken, widen or bend a sound.
Prism
Reversed and pitch-shifted audio splices, recycled into sparkling or fractured trails.
Grain
Granular clouds made from live audio. Shape grain size, density and pitch, or play the live or frozen buffer with up to eight MIDI keys.
Reverb
Plates, halls, rooms, springs, shimmer and reverse spaces for short ambience or long tails.
Crush
Heavy compression, bit reduction and vintage sampler grit for weight and rough edges.
Pitch
Pitch shifting with formant control and feedback for harmonies and cascading repeats. MIDI adds up to four harmony voices from a single voice or instrument.
Repeat
Beat repeats, rolls and stutters for fills, rhythmic variations and transitions.
Transient
Independent control of the hit and sustain to sharpen attacks or soften a loop.
Resonator
Tuned resonances that turn hits and textures into pitched tails and ringing chords. Play four-note chords with MIDI, with velocity-sensitive excitation, release tails and sustain pedal support.
Image
Stereo width and isolation across up to three frequency bands, with draggable crossover dividers.
Gain
Level, balance and polarity control for matching parallel paths and placing sounds in the stereo field.
Degrade
A circuit-bent buffer with manual and automatic glitches. Trigger stutters, reverse slices, tape stops or scatter; loop a capture and shape its pitch, length and blend.
Wash
Spectral reverb that smears, pitch-shifts and freezes sound into sustained atmospheres. Previously named Borealis.
Fuse
Morph between blending, wavefolding, ring modulation, digital XOR and a 24-band vocoder. Use an internal carrier or patch in another sound.
Recall
Bring earlier phrases back from up to three minutes of stereo history as rhythmic fragments.
Refrain
Catch micro-loops, change their speed, and let them dissolve into a stereo echo.
Tape Texture
Choose cassette, VHS or reel colour, then add wow, flutter, noise and contact dropouts.
Modulators (7)
LFO
Repeating control shapes, including custom drawn curves, to animate any modulation destination.
Envelope
Follow a sound's loudness or trigger an envelope on hits, in a loop or on the beat. MIDI Gate and One-shot modes let your keys shape any patched control.
Sequencer
Eight stages of sixteen tempo-locked steps for rhythmic changes in pitch, tone or other controls.
Random
Stepped randomness, smooth movement and slow drift for patterns that keep changing.
Macros
Four named performance knobs, each able to move several controls at once.
Mod Processor
Combine and reshape two control signals, then scale or offset the result.
Vector
An XY modulator with ten motion paths, including square, triangle, diamond, spiral and Lissajous, plus up to 30 seconds of recorded gestures. Send X and Y to controls, or blend four audio inputs with the same pad.

Questions

About Mod Rack.

Do I need to know modular synthesis?

No. Start from a factory rack or press Random, and every connection is a drag from an output to an input. Auto organize tidies the cables whenever they pile up.

What is included?

30 nodes: 23 effects and seven modulator types, plus 460 factory racks. Any of the 18 slots can hold any node, including duplicates. There are no expansions to buy and no subscription.

Can I automate it in my DAW?

Yes. Four named macro knobs are exposed to your DAW, and each can move several controls at once. The Transitions folder wires them to builds, drops and throws.

Can I play modules with MIDI?

Yes. Mod Rack 0.1.3 adds optional MIDI control to five modules: four-note Resonator chords, Grain with up to eight held keys, Gate and One-shot envelopes, Filter key tracking, and Pitch harmony with up to four voices. Enable MIDI in each module you want to play; it is off by default, including in older presets.

How do I send MIDI to Mod Rack?

Route a MIDI track or keyboard to Mod Rack's MIDI input while audio feeds the rack. Mod Rack is an audio effect, so routing depends on your DAW; some hosts cannot send MIDI to effects. The included quick start explains the module controls. Filter key tracking applies to its filter models except Curve.

Can Pitch turn a vocal into a chord?

Yes. Its MIDI harmony uses a single voice or instrument as the source, with up to four harmony voices. Intervals mode shifts relative to a reference note; Tracked mode follows the source pitch and retunes it to your held keys. Use a monophonic source, rather than a chord or full mix. Tracking takes time to settle, and the Voice engine's latency is reported to your host.

Can I load other plug-ins inside it?

Mod Rack connects its own built-in modules. Use other plug-ins before or after it in your DAW.

How does it fit with Master Rack?

Mod Rack is for creative effects, routing and motion. Master Rack is for mixing and finishing. They are separate plug-ins; FarField Complete includes both.

Which formats are available?

Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and macOS 10.15 or later on Apple silicon and Intel. Both have VST3 for your DAW and a standalone application, and the Mac installer adds Audio Units. One purchase covers both platforms: download whichever installer you need from your account.

How do updates and refunds work?

Updates are free: sign in with the email address you bought with and download the current version. If Mod Rack isn't for you, email us within thirty days for a full refund.

What is the introductory offer?

US$50 for Mod Rack, regular US$79. Introductory prices end 15 November 2026. FarField Complete, with Master Rack and all twelve mixing plug-ins, is US$89 introductory, US$129 regular.
