Common questions.

How do I get an update?

Sign in at your account and download the current installer. Close your DAW and any standalone FarField apps before installing. On Windows, extract the ZIP first; Complete includes two installers, so run both. On Mac, run the .pkg installer. Then reopen your DAW. Updates are free. The installer replaces the plug-in and keeps your presets and project settings.

Do I need an account before buying?

Yes. Create an account and verify your email before you continue to payment. That account holds your downloads, free updates and plug-in licence. You can also create an account without buying anything, and choose whether to receive news about new plug-ins and offers. The news choice is optional and can be changed under Email preferences.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Request a full refund from your account within thirty days of buying, or email support@farfieldaudio.com with your order reference. You don't have to say why. The account form submits a request for us to process; it does not refund the payment immediately. A pending request holds the final permanent-offline activation. Once refunded, downloads end and temporary plug-in access ends at the next successful licence check or when the offline allowance expires. You must stop using refunded software, including any copy already unlocked for permanent offline use.

How do I activate my plug-ins?

Open a paid plug-in and choose Activate in browser. Sign in with your purchase email. Check that the computer code on the website matches the one in the plug-in, tick the confirmation box and choose Activate my plugins. When the website says Approved, return to the plug-in and choose Check licence. If your DAW was already playing, stop and restart playback. MATCH does not need activation.

The browser opens my account, but there is no activation code.

Install the latest download from your account with your DAW closed, then reopen the plug-in and choose Activate in browser again. An earlier build opened the account page without its computer code. Opening the account page from the site menu also does not start activation; use the button inside the plug-in.

Check licence has not activated my plug-in.

First complete the browser approval for the matching computer code. Signing in alone does not approve a computer. Then return to the plug-in and choose Check licence. If the website says Approved but the plug-in still cannot activate, check your connection and computer clock, wait a few seconds and try again. Contact support with the computer code and the message shown if it still fails.

I bought on another computer. How do I install it here?

Sign in on the new computer, download and install your plug-ins, then complete the browser activation steps above. There is no device limit for your own computers. A new computer, a different user account or a reinstalled operating system needs its own activation. An existing permanent offline licence stays on the computer where it was issued.

What do I need to run it?

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) or macOS 10.15 or later (Apple silicon and Intel), and a DAW that hosts VST3 plug-ins, or Audio Units on a Mac. A standalone application is included if you would rather not use a host. One purchase covers both platforms: sign in and download the installer for your computer.

The plug-in does not appear in my DAW.

Rescan your plug-ins, because most hosts only look at startup or when you ask. If it is still missing, check that your DAW is scanning C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, and that you are running a 64-bit host. On a Mac the installer puts VST3 plug-ins in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 and Audio Units in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. If you use a plug-in allow-list, the plug-in has to be permitted there too.

Does the plug-in need an internet connection?

Paid plugins need an initial activation and a connection at least every seven days during the first thirty days after purchase. At the thirty-day boundary, reconnect for a final check that grants permanent offline use if no refund request or dispute is pending. After that, no automatic licence checks are needed for that purchase on that computer. Your audio and projects never leave your computer. MATCH works offline without activation.

I did not get the sign-in code.

Check your spam folder and make sure you used the address on your receipt. Codes expire after fifteen minutes; wait at least one minute before requesting another. If nothing arrives, contact support with your purchase email and order reference. Never send us a sign-in code.

I no longer have access to my purchase email.

Sign in using a password or passkey you previously added, or choose Recovery code and enter your current account email and one unused backup code. In Account security, change your email and confirm the code sent to the new inbox. Your purchases and activated plug-ins stay with the same account. If you have none of these sign-in methods, contact support@farfieldaudio.com for an ownership review. An order reference alone does not prove ownership. Never email us a password or recovery code.

Can I use a password and a passkey?

Yes. New accounts start with email and password. Open Account security to add passkeys and save recovery codes. A passkey uses your device's Face ID, fingerprint, PIN or security key. Email-code sign-in is under Try a different way. Save recovery codes somewhere outside your email inbox; each works once, and generating a new set replaces the old set.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in page choose Forgot your password?, enter the six-digit code we email you and pick a new one. To change a password you know, open Account security and enter your current password first. If you cannot access your inbox, use an unused recovery code. Changing your password or email signs out other browser sessions without removing your plug-in activations.

How does automatic mastering work?

Put Master Rack on your mix bus, press Listen and play the loudest section of your song, such as the chorus with all the main instruments playing. It renders three options using your audio and recommends one. Compare them by ear; every control stays editable, and Undo restores your previous setup.

Why does my Mod Rack export keep going?

Freeze and heavy feedback can hold a sound forever, and Mod Rack tells your DAW so. Release Freeze or lower the feedback before exporting, or set an end point for the export in your DAW.

I hear clicks or dropouts with the full Master Rack chain.

Raise your audio buffer to 512 samples or more while mixing; the full twelve-module chain at high sample rates needs the headroom. CPU use depends on your computer, session and DAW.

Something sounds wrong.

Tell us what you hear with the module bypassed and what you hear with it on. That helps us narrow down the problem. Include the product and its version from the About page, your operating system, your DAW and its version.

What we know about you

We use your purchase and account details to provide downloads and support. Activation sends a random computer credential to check your licence; it does not upload your audio, projects or a hardware fingerprint. See the privacy notice.
